One of my favorites is "Good Deal with Dave Lieberman." Having been a foodie for many years (I won't give the number!), I was surprised that I could learn something from someone so young.
But Lieberman is full of great cost-conscious ideas. My copy of his first book, "Young & Hungry" (Hyperion, $22.95), definitely has its share of food stains.
Promoting his latest book, "Dave's Dinners" (Hyperion, $27.50), Lieberman will make an appearance in Memphis at Macy's Oak Court, 4545 Poplar, May 2 at 6 p.m.
A featured chef of Macy's Culinary Council, Lieberman will share some new tricks of the trade as well as some delicious new recipes. Local chef Felicia Willett of Felicia Suzanne's will appear with him.

Food Network 2007
Speaking of the Food Network, did you see their first-ever awards show that aired earlier this month?
This fun show featured such tasty categories as "Delectable Delivery of the Year: Not your grandmother's food-of-the-month club" (a favorite of mine, Zingerman's: Z-Club, won) and "Tasty Technology: Tomorrow's appliances for today's kitchens." Paradise Ridge Winery
Rene Byck, owner of Paradise Ridge Winery in Sonoma, Calif., will be in town next week showcasing his wines.
On Monday at 6:30 p.m., Trinity Wine & Liquor will feature a tasting of Paradise Ridge Winery wines at Cordova Country Club, 7400 Cordova Club Dr. The cost is $35 per person. For reservations, call Trinity Wine & Liquor at 753-4977.
On Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., Paradise Ridge wines will be featured at Blue Fish Restaurant, 2149 Young Ave. "Their wines have been on our menu for quite some time," says Blue Fish chef/owner Richard Grenamyer, "They are all excellent."

Wine dinner from A to Z
On Thursday, May 3, at 6:30 p.m., The Grove Grill, 4550 Poplar, hosts another Dinner in the Kitchen, this time featuring wines from Oregon's A to Z Wineworks winery.
The menu includes such items as tortilla-crusted Alaskan halibut, seared yellow fin tuna with sweet pepper risotto and Kalamata olive tapenade, and wood-grilled Marble Farms pork tenderloin.
The five-course dinner paired with wines is $75, plus tax and gratuity. For reservations, call 818-9951.
Mary Jane Rogers of Horn Lake is currently featured in the Spring 2007 issue of the quarterly magazine "Homemade: From the Kitchens of Wal-Mart Shoppers." Her recipe for meat-and-potato tots bake was selected out of thousands of entries submitted by Wal-Mart shoppers. Way to go, Mary Jane!
